Stana Katic plays the remarkable Kate Beckett in Hit show Castle. The last time we saw her in the show though we were left with a Cliffhanger.
I think that Stana is a stunningly beautiful woman!
I sent 2 prints to Stana 5x7 so they match the prints I sent to Nathan Fillion. It took 5 months but that is because I didn't put "AIRMAIL" on my SAE envelope D'UH!
I love the cute messages that Stana wrote on my pictures.
Its successes like this that really make my hobby worth it!!

The first time I saw Jemima on TV was in a tv show called Synchronicity back in 2006. She then appeared in As if and Sky 1 show Hex. The most recent series I have watched her in though was Lost in Austen a brilliant ITV series reliving Pride and Prejudice.

I sent 3 stills from Lost in Austen and received all 3 back signed and personalised as you can see with lovely little messages from Jemima.

Remember Michelle Ryan? Zoe Slater of Eastenders?

She has done a lot more since then. Including a great updated version of The Bionic Woman which unfortunately only got 1 season. She has also been a guest Companion on Doctor Who in the Planet of the Dead special episode.

I have wanted to write to Gordon Ramsay for a long time.
He has a lot of knockers who don't like him but I really enjoy watching him.
I love the 'F' Word and the live cook off shows that he does. I do love Nightmares but sometimes it makes me cringe.
I sent 2 photos to Gordon and an SAE (as always). I received the photos back signed and personalised with a lovely letter from his assistant. My SAE was also sent back to me as the items were all sent in a Gordon Ramsay card backed envelope. That's great as I can use it again.

This is one of the quickest turnarounds ever in the history of my autograph collecting.
Danny Wallace is known for lots of things that he has done over the last 10 years.
He started the Join Me movement in 2001. He also started his own country (called Lovely) in his flat in 2005.
Danny also write the book "Yes Man" which was made into a very successful movie starring Jim Carey.
Danny is currently hosting the Breakfast show on XFM RADIO.

He signed this picture on the back too Which I didn't notice until I went to scan it.

Jason Manford in person

I've been lucky enough to meet Jason Manford twice in a month.
The first time was at a book signing at Waterstones in Nottingham on October 8th. I bought his book "Brung up proper" and we queued for about an hour.

Jason was lovely. We chatted about Derby for a few minutes (His wife Cat is from Derby and her parents still live here) then he signed my book.

I asked for photo and Jason kindly obliged

So that was the first time.

On November 4th I was lucky enough to have tickets to go see Jason perform his stand-up live at the Assembly Rooms in Derby.
I was so excited as I had the tickets for the better part of the year. I went along with My son Bret, My Sister Debz and her boyfriend Carl.

Jason was absolutely hilarious. I was so glad for the half time interval to come just to get a breather and give my face and ribs a break from the laughing.
After the gig ended Jason was to be signing his book. As I had already had my copy signed, I thought it would be a great idea to get the picture of him and me signed.

I was really nervous as I stood in line even though it had only been a month since the last time I spoke to him. I was absolutely over the moon when it was my turn and Jason said to me " Ive a feeling I've met you before"
I presented the pictures from our last encounter and he gladly signed them for me.

He also sgined Debz and Bret's tickets and I had another photo taken for good measure

Nathan Fillion

OMG I am so Excited about this success. According to fanmail.biz Nathan is a hard man to get a successful autograph from so the fact that I got a reply within a couple of months is AMAZING!!

Nathan is currently most known for the hit TV show Castle. You may remember him from way back and the American sitcom 2 guys and a girl. He also starred in the SciFi TV show Firefly and it's spin off movie Serenity. Then there is my favourite - He played Captain Hammer in Joss Whedon's Hit Internet mini-series Dr Horrible's Sing-along Blog.

This has got to be my best success this year - mainly because it has come from the US and in only 2 months.

Jason Manford

Jason Manford is a very funny comic who seemed to appear from nowhere. All of a sudden he was on TV all the time. He was a team captain on 8 out of 10 cats, Did - Live at the Apollo, Odd one in, Would I lie to you. Then he was offered the great job of presenting The One Show alongside Alex Jones. Unfortunately something that he did in his private life meant he had to give up the One Show gig. I was gutted by that. What he did was silly but He didn't kill anyone.
However, Jason's career hasn't been hurt. He recently presented an excellent TV program that was like X factor for comics. "Show me the Funny" Where each week this group of up and coming comedians had to do a set in front of a different audience. There were 3 experienced judges - Alan Davies, Kate Copstick and a guest judge. They would pick a bottom 3 and 1 person would be 'evicted' at the end of each show. Jason also performed Opera on Born to shine and won the entire competition.
I will also be seeing Jason perform live in November here at Derby Assembly Rooms. I am very excited about that and I hope I get to see him at the Stage door after for a phot op ;)

I wrote to Jason at the end of March this year and received a reply back today 17th September. That is 24 weeks. I am happy with that. I sent 4 photos that I printed myself and Jason signed all 4 He also sent a lovely little letter which made my day.

Gary Barlow

Well I was cleaning out a cupboard today and I found my Gary Barlow autograph.
Yes it is one of the best autographs I have ever collected. The only reason it was lost in a cupboard was because I had to move in a hurry and everything ended up getting mixed up.

I wrote to Gary in 1997 when Take That had split. I just sent he letter addressed to him via his big house in Cheshire. It found its way easily and I think I got a reply within the month. I don't think it would be that easy now.

Billie Piper

I guess Billie is most well known for the part of Rose in the first 2 series of the new Dr Who. She has been around a lot longer than that though and started off as a popstar in the 90s.
She has also done many films and a few period dramas too. Most recently she has starred in the popular show Diary of a call girl She is also now married to Lewis actor Laurence Fox and they have a 2 year old boy called Winston.

I had written to Billie before, back when she was a teenage popstar and I have those pictures on my wall but I decided I needed to get an updated autograph from the Doctor Who era. I did try a couple of years ago but never received a reply so I thought I would try again and Hurrah! Success.
I sent my request on 18/04/11 and received it back today 28/07/11. That's a 3 month turn around which isn't bad.
I do realise that there is 2 lots of handwriting on the photo. It doesn't bother me that the agent/PA wrote the To Jen bit as long as Billie signed the photos which were printed and sent by me :)

Gareth David-Lloyd will be better known to Torchwood fans as Ianto the once labelled Tea-boy who actually held Torchwood together.
Unfortunately the character of Ianto was killed off at the end of the last series but we live in hope that he can still be brought back.

Since the end of Torchwood Gareth has been working on other projects including playing in his band Blue Gillespie.

Suzi is another idol of mine. A woman doing great work for Womankind and a great Role Model for young girls.

Suzi will be most known to some people as the face of the BBC MotoGP coverage.
To me she is the Queen of Gadgets. She has been presenting The Gadget show on Channel 5 now for 7 years alongside Jason Bradbury and Jon Bentley. She also recently presented How to take stunning Pictures which was a great show with lots of hints and tips from top photographers.

Karen Brady is my idol. She is a super successful Football Executive. She became the first woman Managing Director in Football at the age of 23 in 1993 at Birmingham City.

Greg James is the relatively new kid on the block at Radio 1. I first heard him on the early breakfast show covering for JK & Joel on a Friday Morning after winning an honour at the Student radio awards. I knew back then he would be a future star.

Since then he was given the early breakfast show for his very own. He has become the Radio 1 utility man - standing in on every show whenever the presenter is off ill or on holiday.

Greg has been a breath of fresh air for me on the station that had become a bit boring and predictable.

I wrote to Greg at the usual Radio 1 address. I sent 2 pictures which (Like the Richard Bacon success) were 2 photos that he had posted on twitter.

I am trying a new tactic when writing to celebs. I am using photos that they have posted to their own twitter accounts.
Richard took it with good humor and wrote a couple of witty messages on the back of the photos I sent.Richard is most notoriously known as the Blue Peter presenter who was sacked for dabbling in drugs - However, this hasn't harmed his career. I think Richard is a very good presenter and really enjoy his evening show on 5live. He has also presented Matthew Wright's show on Five and Something for the weekend.

Torville And Dean

They need no introduction really but Torville and Dean have been back in the public eye this last 3 years as they have developed and performed in "Dancing on Ice".
Most famous for winning a gold at the Olympics with their wonderful Bolero routine they are now selling the Dancing on Ice format all over the world.

I wrote to Jayne & Chris care of the DOI studios on March 7th 2008 and received a reply on May 1st 2008.
This is a turnaround of 8 weeks which is great.

I sent 2 screencaps from the show and received both of them signed plus their official photo so I am really pleased with this result. I also received a letter from Chris & Jane's Personal secretary along with the 3 signed photos.

Lucy has been most well known recently as playing Marian in Robin Hood.
I wrote to her on behalf of my son as well as myself because he is also a big fan of the show.

I am really pleased with the result as not only did Lucy sign one of the photos for Bret, she also wrote a lovely letter on the back of one of the photos.

I sent the request on January 1st 2008 and received a reply on March 7th. This gives an 8 week turn around which is very good and with a success like this, it is worth waiting for.

Freema played the most recent companion in Doctor Who - Martha Jones. I wasn't impressed at first but by mid-way through the series I had warmed to the character. I think Freema is Wonderful though. In interviews she showed great enthusiasm for the part and seemed truly excited to be part of the show.

Joe Dempsie is one of the very talented actors from recent E4 show Skins.
Joe played troubled Chris Miles who loved the party life and woke up one morning to find that his mum had left him.

I wasn't a very big fan of the character of Chris if I am honest but the fact that Joe is a Notts Forest fan and I am very much Derby County I felt the need to write to him and rub it in - In a nice way of course.

Today I recieved a lovely letter from Joe along with the 2 pictures that I asked to be signed.
He has taken my letter in good spirits and the fact that he wrote me back instead of just sending the photos back has meant that he has gone up in my estimations as a great personality as well as a great actor and hopefully a very successful one in the future.

Quite disappointed about this one.

I wrote to Stevie G at about the same time as Stuart Pearce. As he is Captain of the Liverpool team and also of the England team I did expect a bit of a wait.

I was impressed with the turn around time only 2 weeks.
I guess Liverpool have someone to deal with fanmail though as the picture I sent was returned unsigned and I got with it it a pre-signed Liverpool/Adidas photocard. I believe the picture isn't a pre-print though as there was some transfer of ink so it would have either been a pre-signed pic or maybe "secretarial"

Stuart Pearce

This is the quickest turnaround I have had in a long time.

Stuart Pearce is the Legendary England Defender. He is also probably most known as stalwart defender for Notts Forest but we will gloss over that. I managed to get hold of some pics of him playing for Derby County and couldn't resist asking him to sign them for me and my sister.

Stuart is now manager of Man City so that is where I wrote to him. He is also Manager of the England U21 squad.

I sent my request with 3 photos on Friday April 20th.
I received the reply on Thursday April 26th - That is just 6 days even with a 2nd class stamp.

Yes you read it right. Will Young as in the gorgeous popstar with the wonderful voice.
I went to see Will on tour back in September in Notts with my 2 sisters. When I got my pictures printed out I decided to have a go at writing to him care of one of the venues he was yet to visit. I had never bothered before as I heard that he doesn't often sign but I had to give it a shot.

I sent my letter to Will on the 20th September care of Newcastle metro arena. I didn't know what to expect really and after a month or so I forgot all about it...Until today when I was jumping all around the room when I opened up the envelope.
Will had very kindly signed all 4 pictures and the page from last year's calendar that I sent and he had also signed a picture for my sister as I asked him to. At the time it was because her birthday was in December and I was hoping if I got a reply in time I could frame it for her as a present but now it will just be a gift out of the blue for her.

I worked out the turn around time to be 19 weeks and 1 day
I will only post 2 of the pictures.

Jo is the first lady of Radio 1 with her revolutionary morning show with the infamous Live Lounge sessions and also with a Wednesday "In new music we trust" evening show.

Sara Cox is the Zany Weekend DJ that does Radio 1's afternoon show on Saturday and Sunday.
She started off on TV presenting The Girlie show

As well as doing her own show Sara often covers for the likes of Jo Whiley and Edith Bowman.
Her most recent triumph was taking part in the BBC charity reality show Only fools on horses.

I sent my request to Sara on 20/11/2006 and recieved the reply on 16/12/2007. This is a 4 week turn around which is turning out to be the average for Radio 1.

I am very pleased as Sara has made a point of writing special message on each photo which makes it all the more individual.

David Tennant is the current star of Doctor Who but has starred in a number of other great tv shows and Movies. He is most known for his role as Casanova and to children as Barty Crouch jnr in Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire.

I sent 3 pics to David on July 13th and recieved all 3 pictures signed back on September 14th. 2 of the pics were signed to me and the other to my daughter as I requested.

Request took 70 days but all worth the wait.

"Comedy" Dave Vitty

This is the one reply that has taken the longest time from Radio 1 but I will give Dave a break after seeing the state of his desk...

Dave is the infamous comedy side-kick of Breakfast show host Chris Moyles and is also the other half of touring partnership Chappers and Dave.

I wrote on June 30th and reply recieved August 17th which is a turn around of 48 days

Mark "Chappers" Chapman

I recieved a lovely note from Chappers today.
Mark Chapman is a man with many talents.

He is a radio 1 sports journalist, He also does sports reports for 5Live/channel5 and Sky TV. He is one half of Chappers and Dave the great club DJ pairing and of course he is part of the team on the Scott Mills show on Radio 1. (You might also have seen him getting a little worked up on the Sports Relief Cricket tour)

Sent on July 4th and recieved back on July 28th so took 24 days

Joel Ross

All good things come to those who wait.
Joel ross is the other half of radio 1 partnership - JK and Joel.

I wrote on June 30th and was worrying that my letter had got lost somehow as I had replies from all the other Radio 1 DJs that were in the same batch.

An excellent success which was worth all 25 days of waiting.

Some pictures are from online, some are screenshots and there are a few taken by myself and Nik when we went to a gig a couple of months ago.

Annie Mac

Annie Mac is Radio 1's Utility player. She has her own show but she also stands in for other shows when presenters are off. recently she has been standing in for JK and Joel on early breakfast, Sara Cox on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and also did 2 shows for Jo Whiley last week.

I sent the request on June 30th and received it back on July 19th making it 19 days.
I sent Annie this picture which I printed off of Radio 1 online

She didn't sign the front of it but she did write a lovely little note on the back of it

Colin Murray is the other half of Radio coupling Colin and Edith (Not for much longer though)

I have recently sent a lot of requests out to Radio 1 DJs and today I received back my first reply from Edith Bowman.
It took 12 days which is good as Edith has been away in Scotland for the T in the Park festival.
I sent it on June 30th and recieved it back today July 12th.

I already had this picture signed by JK when he came out of The Games in March so I decided to send it off to Peter and ask him to sign it too.

It is a still from The Games live streaming when Peter and Jason dressed up as each other.

I sent the pic to Peter on 3/05/06 and I got it back on the 24/06/06 which is a turn around of 7 weeks. I am happy with that.

I am extremely happy with todays success.

I wrote to Kym Marsh 2 weeks ago and sent some pictures from OK mag. I received them back today . Both pics were signed With Love Kym Marsh. I was extra surprised though that she had also signed another picture that was on the other side of one of them.

Unfortunately the pictures had to be folded as I couldn't get an envelope big enough but Once they are framed that will be OK.

Replies are being pretty slow just now so I thought I would share with you a recent success I had before I started this blog.

It is from the rather delicious JK (Jason King) of Radio One's Chart Duo JK & Joel. Hoping to to complete the set soon by getting some signed photos of Joel too so watch this space.

The reply from JK took one week exactly and I wrote to him using the Radio 1 address which is just Radio 1, London, W1N 4DJ

Well unfortunately my first success to be reported on here is a disappointing one.

I wrote to Katie Price a while back but as I didn't get a reply I decided to write again on Monday and sent some pics from a recent magazine shoot she did. Now I was impressed at the fast turnover of the reply but unfortunately my pics were returned unsigned with a small signed photocard. It isn't the kind of pic I can put on my wall either...

I want to keep trying and see If i can get her autograph as Katie though on a nice pic instead of a Jordan Glamour pic :-)
